The EOTC calendar originated from the Egyptian Coptic Church (Sister church). The two calendars differ with regards to Saints’ days and the time of observing them. The Ethiopian calendar contains 365 days which is added every 4th year an extra day. Each year in this 4 year period is dedicated to one of the four Evangelists; Mathew, Mark, Luke or John.
This year is the year of St. John.
